Judge sentences teens to jail for vicious beatings

Thursday November 21, 2002

SAN DIEGO — Rejecting calls for lengthy prison terms, a judge sentenced three teenagers to county jail Wednesday for severely beating five Mexican laborers in an attack prosecuted as a hate crime.

The 18-year-olds were the last of eight San Diego teens to be sentenced for chasing down and assaulting the nursery workers, all in their 60s, with steel rods, pellet guns and rocks in July 2000.

Adam Ketsdever and Bradly Davidofsky, who prosecutors said led the attack, were sentenced to two years in the San Diego County Jail. Steven Deboer was sentenced to one year in jail.v
