We share the morning coffee grounds— 

me and yellow rose buds 

in October. 

Open skies are grey 

with blueness 

peeking through 

to winter storms 

of California: boding strong. 

And so, 

I move the roses closer in 

to warm and help them blossom 

on the terrace of my home... 

then rest. 

'till gentle April 

touches yellow buds 

and roses open 

in the sun again.
