“Carmen” Berkeley Opera takes a fresh look at George Bizet’s popular opera with a new English-language adaptation by David Scott Marley. Marley’s version restores many lines that had been cut from the familiar version, and includes additional material from the 1846 French novella the opera is based on. “It’s a little darker and sexier than the opera most people think they know,” says Marley.
