Mayor Shirley Dean and former state Assemblyman Tom Bates would each get 35 percent of the vote if Berkeley’s mayoral race were held this summer, according to a poll commissioned in mid-June by developer Patrick Kennedy.

San Francisco-based David Binder Research conducted the poll, which sampled 400 Berkeley residents.

The findings have not been released to the public, but both Bates and Dean confirmed that Kennedy has shared the results with them.
