there were choices

there were the clichés

there was the bombast

there were the suits and the hair

there was custom, tradition

but everybody was tired of that

they voted for the clown

the loud, plain-spoken, contradictory,

cheesy, entertaining, racist

arrogant, spotlight-loving clown

because he was a clown

and they just

wanted to see what would happen
